PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT ON SUSTAINABLE UTILIZATION OF WATER RESOURCES IN THE PEARL RIVER DELTA ECONOMIC ZONE
珠江三角洲经济区水资源可持续利用初步评价

Being one of the most dynamic economic area in Cina as well as in the World,the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone(PRDEZ) has gain increasing concern. On the basis of prediction of the socioeconomic development in PRDEZ,the water demand volume of each city within this region and the of each industry in three years, 2002,2010 and 2020,are calculated. Upon the discussion,balance of water demand and supply is analyzed. By empolying the new concepts and calculation methods of the Damage Coefficient of Water Resources Quality and the Index of Bearing Capacity of Water Resources (i.e. !Relative Bearing Capacity"),trends of the Bearing Capacity of Water Resources of each city are evaluated. It is argued that unreasonable industrial structure,insufficient water supply and increase of domestic sewage are the three main causes resulting in the water scarcity in PRDEZ and then three models for sustainable utilization of water resources are proposed.
