Abstract:

An alternative method is proposed to analyze the moveout information (above and below) of the target horizon in the τ -p domain, and a new linearized reduced parameter AVO expression is derived to analyze the amplitude of isotropic compressional waves without loss of accuracy. It depends only on two free parameters and does not require extra prior parameter information. Experiment results for both synthetic data and well data show that the proposed method gives similar accuracy as the conventional three- parameters linerized Shuey expressions, and it can be used for practical engineering analysis.
