THE HABITAT ENVIRONMENT AND RARE MAMMALS IN HEXI CORRIDOR REGION

The Hexi Corridor region is located in the morthwestern part of Gansu Province with an elevation of 1000 to 1500 m above sea level.According to geographical environment and the distribution of rare mammals,the Hexi Corridor region can be divided into three subregions: 1) Corridor desert,semi desert and oasis mainly having Vulpes ferrilatus,Vulpes vulpes,Felis libyca and Felis bieti in distribution; 2) Corridor north mountain deserts mainly having Pseudois nayaur, Ovis ammon and Capra sibirica in distribution;and 3)Corridor south mountain forest grasslands mainly having Selenoarcfos thibetanus,Panthera uncia,Cervus elaphus and Cervus albirostris in distribution.
