A PROJECTED PROTECTION SCHEME FOR THE KARST GEOLOGICAL LANDSCAPE IN XISHAN REGION,BEIJING
北京西山地区岩溶地质景观保护方案研究

The paper reveals that major karst geological landscape in Xishan region of Beijing has been destroyed to a considerable degree.Based on the analyses,the authors hold that people's understandings and mulmanagement are accountable for the destruction of the landscape.Protection schemes in terms of systematic engineering are put forward.The guiding principle of the schemes is that protection is most important which should be carried out "in districts and at grades" and exploitation should be "reasonable and moderate".Four national grade and four municipal grade protection districts are suggested along with considerations of combining macroscopic policy making with specific engineering and technical measures.
