Various kinds of intelligent composite material have widely been applied in engineering and tech- nology.This paper reviews the basic concepts,main types and sensing and actuating mechanisms of intelligent materials and intelligent composite materials,focusing on art-of-state applications of intelligent composite ma- terials.The multi-physics coupling behavior of intelligent composite materials is emphasized in the present paper.
