A STUDY ON BASIC AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGIONALIZATION IN CHINA

The main restricting factor to sustainable agricultural development in the 21st century is the shortage of water land resources.The crisis of water land resources supply and environmental problem for agriculture will become much severer than ever in the 21st century because of increasing competition from other water land users.The fundamental solution to this problem is to reveal the spatial format of agricultural resources and environment in various regions,establish resources saving agricultural pattern according to its regional characters,and improve agricultural productivity per unit of water land comsumption in field gradually in the 21st century.To this end,it is necessary to 1) set up criteria system of dividing resources and environmental regions for sustainable agricultural development in China by using principal component analysis; 2) to divide the country into 4 regions and 14 sub regions for effective sustainable utilization of agricultural resources and environment by means of dynamic cluster method and qualitative analysis; and 3) to deal with target patterns of sustainable agricultural resources allocation of different regions.
