STRUCTURAL SHAPE OPTIMIZATION WITH DYNAMIC RESPONSE INCORPORATED

Abstract:
In structural optimization,applied loads are usually assumed to be static for most practical ap- plications even though in a dynamic case.The results show that the static optimization using a dynamic factor cannot properly account for the effects of a dynamic response.The present study performs the dynamic response optimization with equivalent static loads,which generate the same displacement field as that under dynamic loads.This algorithm is a transformation of a dynamic load into a set of equivalent static loads and a subsequent static response optimization with the transformed equivalent static loads as a multiple load case. Various examples are solved to verify the algorithm.The results are compared to those under static loads.It is found that the algorithm is valid for very large-scale shape optimization problems.
