Chaoshan depression located in the south of the Zhujiang river mouth basin,it is now becoming a new field of exploration for oil and gas of Zujiang river mouth basin.The focus of work is aim to the Mesozoic group features and hydrocarbon exploration potential at present.The text analyse region characteristic and rule of gravity and magnetism annormity in Chaoshan depression,conclusion think that the Chaoshan depression is tectonic transition belt of join two tectonic element about the dongsha islands to the xisha islands,the fault of turning towards the basin control growth of the Mesozoic group.According to characteristic and rule of seismogeology in the chaoshan depression,the thesis integrate oneself with research result by our predecessors,put forward hydrocarbon exploration potential in Chaoshan depression.
