The Crustal movment in the Qinghai Tibet plateau and its southeast foreland from GPS surveying
|
Abstract:
The Qinghai-Tibet is the highest, the biggest and the most active Plateau over the world. Many scientists pay attention to its unique topography and natural characteristics, and carry out their research in to this region. Based on results of GPS observations, the velocity field of crustal movement in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its southeast foreland is showed in this paper. The GPS monitoring of crustal movement documents the dynamic characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its southeast foreland, including north-south-direction concentration in the plateau, east-ward material-flow in the plateau, and clockwise-rotation of crustal material in the eastern plateau around convergence area in Himalayans. And origin of the dynamics has preliminarily been analyzed.
