NON-CONFORMING DOMAIN DECOMPOSITION WITH THE HYBRID FINITE ELEMENT METHOD
|
Abstract:
In this paper the author presents a non-conforming domain decomposition technique forsolving elliptic problems with the finite element method. Functions in a finite element space as-sociated with this method may be discontinuous on the boundary of subdomains. The sizes ofthe finite element meshes, the kinds of elements and the kinds of interpolation function maybe different in different subdomains. So this method is more conve?ent and more efficientthan the conforming domain decomposition method. The hybrid method is adopted to dealwith the boundary between subdomains and the solution obtained by this method has the sameconvergence rate as the conforming method, and both the condition number and the order ofthe capacitance matrix are much lower than in the conforming case.
