The physical mechanisms and R{\&}D (research and development) status of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) are reviewed in this paper, including its structural design and related issues of fluid dynamics. The numerical model and software platform for optimization based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are also discussed.
