A NEW SIMPLE ITERATIVE TECHNIQUE FOR THE IMPLICIT LINEAR MULTISTEP METHODS

A new expression of the Adams-Nordsieck-Gear method is proposed in 4] to enlarge theeffective stability region of Adams-Moulton method, which in fact implies a new technique ofsimple iteration with a parameter for implicit equations. In this paper, the technique is gene-ralized to solve general implicit linear multistep methods; in particular, the adequate Nordsieckexpression for the Gear method is derived and the corresponding variable-stepsize variable-orderprogram GEPS is formed.
