THE GENERALIZED GALERKIN METHOD FOR A CLASS OF NONLINEAR HYPERBOLIC EQUATIONS
一类非线性双曲型方程的广义Galerkin方法

In this paper, we consider the generalized Galerkin method for a class of second order nonlinear hyperbolic equations. Stability and error estimares are established for the generalized Galerkin methodwith piecewise linear trial funiction and piecewise constant test function spaces. Op-timal rates of convergence for continuous time and discrete time are established aswell. The order of this collvergence is the same as that of the finite element method.
