THE HIERARCHICAL FAST FINITE ELEMENT METHOD WITH HIGH ACCURACY

Using the orthogonal splitting theory of the finite element space; we provide the hier- archical fast finite element method with high accuracy in R~d(d=1, 2, 3). We need only to solve the linear subsystems hierarchically instead of solving the algebraic system of equa- tions, which arise from the discretization of symmetric elliptic boundary value problems via finite.element methods. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the theoretically predicted results.
