DISCONTINUOUS FINITE ELEMENT METHOD WITH PENALTY FOR ELLIPTIC BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS

In this paper, we present a new discontinuous finite element method with penalty for solving the second order elliptic boundary value problems, and then the stability and convergence analyses are given. In particular, we derive a residual-based reliable a posteriori error estimator and establish the corresponding adaptive algorithms for the discontinuous finite element method.
