Experimental Research on the Dependence between Liquid Viscosity and Boundary Slip

Abstract:
In order to investigate the flow and transportation properties of liquids between solid and liquid at micro/nano scale,a commercial Atomic Force Microscope was modified to investigate boundary slip effect on confined liquids,especially focusing on the relationship between liquid viscosity and slip length.Smooth Si(100)was chosen as solid surface specimen and deionized water and sucrose solutions with different viscosities were used.Results indicated that boundary slip occurred on every case.Further more,the...
