Design of linear phase IIR filters via optimal Hankel-norm approximation begin

Abstract:
The design of linear phase infinite impulsive response (IIR) filters is condidered via optimal Hankel-norm approximation. First, some mathematical preliminaries on Hankel-norm is introduced. Then for discrete time single-input single-output (SISO) system, a theorem of Hankel-norm approximation is proposed and proved. Finally the efficient design procedures of linear phase IIR filters are derived. The algorithm not only reduces computational load due to the matrix inversion in lower dimension but also gives Linfinity error bound. Example is worked out which shows the validity of the approach.
