Model-predictive-control for an accelerated cooling process

The dynamic temperature of plate can not be measured inside of cooling section in an accelerated cooling and controlled(ACC) process.This makes it difficult to accurately control the temperature of the cooling process. A new control method is presented for the control of ACC, in which the control objective is the temperature profile along the cooling equipment; and the thermo-physical model is used to estimate the temperature distribution along the cooling equipment. A model-predictive-controller is applied to optimize the manipulated variables according to the temperature distribution estimated by the thermo-physical model. The simulation results show that, by this method, the effects of disturbance and uncertainty are eliminated in the cooling process; and the requirement of temperature uniformity of plate along the longitudinal direction is satisfied.
