Order pool optimization for make-to-order production in steel plant

Abstract:
A monthly order plan optimization model is formulated based on the studies on the monthly order planning strategies,constraints and objectives under make-to-order (MTO) management mode in steel plant.The model objective is to maximize the total weighted-sum order weights compiled in the monthly order plan.Production capacity constraints and proportion relations between product sizes and varieties are synthetically taken into consideration in the model.The penalty function approach is used to transform the constrained optimization model into a non constrained one.A guided local search (GLS) algorithm is designed to solve the model.Taking a practical monthly order planning problem as an example,the model and algorithm are systematically tested for performance,and computation result shows that the model and algorithm outperform the existing order planning system of the plant.
