By analyzing the principle of optimization, a new optimization method for fuzzy controller's design is put forward. The membership functions of input and output variables are defined by three parameters which are adjusted to minimize the performance index by simplex means. Therefore the fuzzy controller is designed to approach the optimal. This optimization method is simple and effective, and practical for fuzzy controller's design.
