Optimal cooling strategy of the laminar cooling control system for hot strip mill based on genetic algorithm
|
Abstract:
To improve the control accuracy of a laminar cooling system for the hot strip mill, it is necessary to consider the requirement on the cooling rate, in addition to the desired coiling temperature. This paper investigates the laminar cooling system for the main zone of a hot strip mill. Both the desired cooling temperature and the cooling rate are simultaneously considered during the cooling process. The opening and closing modes of the headers in the main zone are taken directly as the representation of the chromosome, and a genetic algorithm(GA) is introduced to determine the optimal cooling strategy in the main zone of the whole control system. Simulation results are given to testify the validity, which indicate that the optimal cooling strategy determined by GA is prominently better than the simple-grouping cooling strategy in the front end.
