Nonlinear H-two/H-infinity speed regulator for a diesel-generator set
|
Abstract:
The frequency stability of a ship power system is determined by the speed response characteristic of the diesel engine speed regulation system, which is a nonlinear control system. To analyze the dynamic characteristic of this system, a nonlinear mathematical model is built first, and then, a nonlinear H-two/H-infinity controller is designed. In combining the direct feedback linearization with the mixed H-two/H-infinity control theory to design the speed regulator for the dieselgenerator, we transform the specifications of the system to that of a standard H-two/H-infinity control problem, and then develop a nonlinear H-two/H-infinity speed control law for the diesel engine. The computer simulation results show that the nonlinear H-two/H-infinity speed regulator effectively improves the dynamic precision of the system and suppresses the load disturbance, thus providing desirable frequency stability for a ship power system.
