JSF:A New Generation of Web Application Framework

This paper introduces a new generation of Web application framework, which named JavaServer Faces (JSF). The final release of JSF's specification is issued in May 2004, which represents the trend of Web application technology's evolution. The paper analyzes the relation between JSF and interrelated technologies, describes the com- ponents and handling flow of JSF and the process of developing Web application with JSF and concludes the main mer- its of JSF. It also mends the limitations of component rendering in present JSF specification through the combination of JSF, JSP and XML.
