Research on Multicast Congestion Control over Wireless Access Links

With the quick development of wireless technologies and increasing popularity of wireless devices, it is im- portant and necessary to provide efficient multicast congestion control schemes to wireless environment. In this pa- per, we propose an enhanced multicast congestion control scheme, called EPGMCC, which achieves significant perfor- mance improvement over traditional multicast congestion control schemes over loss-prone wireless access links. The key idea of EPGMCC is to discriminate random loss from congestion loss according to the measured network conges- tion level, and take different actions accordingly. Our extensive simulation results demonstrate the improvement achieved by EPGMCC over wireless access networks.
