Research on Geographic Information Semantic Relation Metadata

Geographic information discovery which is mainly catalog service based metadata is foundation of Geographic information sharing. Today's information discovery methods in catalog service are typically limited to keyword searches or matches of sub-strings, which do not meet user's demand. This paper discusses how to use ontology theory and semantic Web methods to build Relation Metadata describing semantic relation between geographic data, and present a prototype system of geographic information resource discovery service based semantic relation metadata.
