Peer-to-Peer Based Information Retrieval and its Optimization Strategies

This paper investigates the ideology and key issues of efficient semantic information retrieval in peer-to-peer(P2P) environment. First, the concept of P2P-based information retrieval is proposed, by integrating information retrieval technique with P2P to achieve semantic retrieving and sharing in P2P systems. Second, a set of metrics to evaluate the efficiency of such sort of system is developed, while the key issues deciding efficiency is identified. Following that, three optimization strategies is devised. And finally, an extensive experimental study is conducted, whose results are promising.
