Research on the Measurement Based on Software Configuration Management

Software Configuration Management (SCM) is the critical discipline that enables us to keep evolving software products under control. The measurement based on SCM helps us to analyze the evolution process of the software system by the quantity way and contributes to improve the software quality and productivity. This article discusses the several aspects of the measurement based on SCM .including: what can we measure based on SCM? How can we retrieve the metrics and how to collect data? We provide ah efficient approach, which is called CR-Delta approach. We also introduce the implementation of the measurement based on SCM in the CPMS ,a software process support system,at the end of this article.
