Using RDBMS in Netrwork Data Collecting and Management

Data collecting serves as the data source of Network Management System(NMS). Its design determines the performance of NMSs. Nowadays,NMSs tend to use database to store and manage data. In this paper,we will study the category of network management information and other unique characteristics that present challenging database issues. Then we introduce a relational Network Database Model(rNetDB),which utilizes RDBMS in network data collecting and management. As an extension to the traditional RDBMS,rNetDB is an effective method that supports the mapping from MIB to relational table and enhances real-time performance in NMSs.
