A Ellipse Extraction Algorithms Based on Deformable Model
|
Abstract:
Only constraining the curves to be continuous and regular, the general active contour models achieve their local flexibility in the cost of global integrity and consequently cause the contour extraction to be highly sensitive to noise and nearby edges. Thus,a new ellipse extraction algorithm based on the ellipse-special deformable model is proposed. This algorithm illustrates a novel deformable model technique, which introduces an ellipse-special curve model. The energy minimization is accomplished directly in the space of parameters used to describe the ellipse, which ensures the solutions to be ellipses.Besides, this approach allows the synchronous extraction of multi-ellipses and the priori knowledge about the parameters of each ellipse as well as the correlated features between them(such as concentric ellipses etc) can also be integrated with easily, such that a fast, accurate, robust ellipse extraction technique is acquired.Experiments with simulated data as well as real image are presented to validate the algorithms.
