The Symmetric Extension Method for Wavelet Transform Image Coding

This paper discusses the symmetric periodic extension method, which can be used to extend the finite length signal before filtering in the wavelet transform image coding. This method can avoid the expansion of subband image size and achieve perfect reconstruction. The odd and even length filters use different method to extend the signals.
