A novelm ethod ofedge detection based on active contour which has the selfstudy skillis presented. Besides the differentialinform ation ofim age gray level, the globalfeature ofim age contour is introduced to the process ofedge detection so thatedge detection and contour extraction can be integrated into one course and has high precision ofedge locate. More over, this m ethod can resum e the break pointofim age contour according to the globalinform ation ofthe contourto prohibit noise. Experim entalresultsshow the validity ofthis m ethod.
