This paper proposes the adaptive directionalfilter, w hich is exploited for the extracting ofleft ventricular (LV) contour. This algorithm could produce the exactridge pointby applying directionalfilterw ith sm oothing operator in the an giography im ages dam aged by noise. The Edge DirectionalVector asthe resultofthis filterisefficientforpredicting the edge ahead, w hile thefilterparam etersisadaptive. This proposed m ethod providesthem ore preciseand m oreautom atic extracting LV contouronly w ith fewerinteractives. The experim entalresults show thatthisproposed algorithm could im prove theaccu racy and reproducibility, and reduce the com putationalconsum ption rem arkably.
