EFFECTS OF NUTRIENTS ON LATENT INFECTION OF TWO SPECIES OF COLLETOTRICHUM CORDA
|
Abstract:
An attempt was made to determine the effects of various concentrations of five sugars on Colletotriehum Corda in banana and mango fruits. The results show that an exogenous supply of starch increased very obviously conidial germination and favoured appressorium formation and sporulation. Monose and disaccha-ride at lower concentrations were conductive to conidial germination and sporulation and not appressorium formation. The hard structure and higher content of starch in the immature fruits provided conditions of latent infection for phytopathogen producing appressoria.
