Endophytic fungi from Achnatherum sibiricum (L.) Keng in mid-eastern Inner Mongolia steppe
|
Abstract:
A total of 484 endophytic fungal isolates were obtained and purified from 7 different geographic populations of Achnatherum sibiricum. Two species of endophytic Neotyphodium were identified. They were N. chisosum and N. huerfanum. The former exists in all of the geographic populations of Achnatherum sibiricum and become a dominant endophytic fungal species, and the latter has not been reported previously in A. sibiricum. Morphological characteristics of the unidentified isolates were described in detail. The isolation rate of endophytic fungi in A. sibiricum showed an ascending trend from the east to the west, while the morphological diversity of the fungi showed a trend of ascendant from the west to the east.
