MATING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHINESE BIOLOGICAL SPECIES AND NORTH AMERICAN SPECIES OF ARMILLARIA
|
Abstract:
A pairing tests of Armillaria between three Chinese Biological Species (CBS) and six North American Biological Species (NABS) were conducted. Thirty-eight monospore isolates from Northeast China, which are representative of CBS A, CBS C and CBS D have been mared with tested strains of A sinapina, A calvescens, A gemina, A nabsnona, A ostoyae and NABS X respectively. As a results, CBS A from Changbai and greater Xing--an mountains was interfertile with A sinapina completely and identified as A sinapina .CBS C was intersterile with any tester of NABS, belonging to Asian-specific species. CBS D was interfertile with tWo isolates of A ostoyae, however, it appears to be incompatible with other four isolates because the mating ability of these four isolates have been degenerated. CBS D was identified as A ostoyae. The partial interfertility not, but the reduced growth interachon was observed in the pairing tests.
