A NEW SPECIES OF SPOROTHRIX

This new species of Sporothrix was isolated from wood in Shennon- gjia,Hubei Province,China.It's morphological characteristics differ markedly from any other described taxa of Sporothrix.This species is close to Sporothrix ramosis- sima Arn.ex Hoog.However,Sporothrix inusitatiramosa can be easily disti- nguished from S.ramosissima Arn.ex Hoog by its smooth walls of conidia,subme- rged hyphae and aerial hyphae,no dichotomous branching.The species also resem- bles Sporothrix ranii Moustafa,but S.ranii Moustafa shows suberect hyphae or hyphal fascicles,with usually orthotropic branching.The specific epithet refers to the irregular branches. This species was isolated from wood in Shennongjia,Hubei province,China. The type specimen HMAS 58393 and living culture AS 3.4637 have been deposited in the Institute of Microbiology,Academia Sinica,Beijing,China.
