STUDIES ON CULTIVATION OF PAECILOMYCES CICADAE AND ITS PHARMACOLOGICAL FUNCTION
|
Abstract:
A strain of the entomogenous fungus Paecilomyces cicadae (Miquel) Samson was used in this study. The fungus formed a continuously mycelial layer on surface of the li- quid medium, when it grew in potato-sucrose, Richard and Czapek liquid media.Numerous conidiogenous structures and spores were found in the mycelial layer. But the strain failed to sporulate in the same media by shaking culture. This fungus grew well and produced many synnemata, which are similar to those occurred in the host on several natural substrates.Pharmacological tests to mice were carried out.The fungus from nature and cultivated has analgesic, sedative and antipyretic functions.
