Abstract:
The fungus Cenococcum geophilum was discovered for the first time in China. The ectomycorrhiza formed by Cenococcum geophilum on loblolly pine was described comprehensively in respect of its morphological and anatomical characters which were also compared with those of the mycorrhizae formed by the same fungus on other plants reported perviously. There were some common characters among them. This fungus was isolated from its mycorrhizae and sclerotia successfully and the characters of pure culture was identical to those described in literature. The importance of Cenococcum geophilum used in afforestation was discussed.
