A TAXONOMIC STUDY OF RHODOTORULA BASED ON ISOENZYME PATTERNS
|
Abstract:
Polyacrylamide slab gel electrophoresis with specific staining for threeenzymes, i.e. malate dehydrogenase (MDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and esterase(EST), was used to compare 24 sttalns belonging to the genus Anodotorula. Thenhierachical clustering method was employed to analyse the resultS of electrophoresis.Twentyufour strains were divided into five groups represenhng four species ofAnodotorula, i. e. An. rubra, An. glutinis, An. graminis and An. minuta. differentstrains of the same group showed high singularity. The electrophorehc technique is a useful tool in the classificahon of Anodotorulabased on this stlldy. It is suggested that this technique can be used to classifyAnodotorula on both specific and infraspecific ranks.
