A new species of Botrytis on Carthamus tinctorius L.is described as B.car- thami B.C.Lin et Y.S.Wu.The taxon is distinguished from its affinities by its large,uni- quely planoconcave sclerotia and its sparely branched, short,slight,and base-tapered conidiop- hores.The conidia of B.carthami are small subhyaline,oval and formed only on sclerotia under lower temperature and north light.
