PHYLOGENETIC POSITION OF KLUYVEROMYCES HUBEIENSIS AS REVEALED FROM RDNA SEQUENCE ANALYSIS
|
Abstract:
The phylogenetic position of Kluyveromyces hubeiensis was investigated on the basis of 18S rDNA, internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region (including 5.8S rDNA) and 26S rDNA D1/D2 domain sequence analyses. The result indicated that K. hubeiensis is a distinct species closely related to Saccharomyces spencerorum and Kluyveromyces lodderae, with a closer relationship to the former. The close relationship between Kluyveromyces sinensis and Saccharomyces naganishii was also showed by the rDNA sequence analyses.
