ADVANCES IN THE TAXONOMY OF THE GENUS FUSARIUM

The members of the genus Fusarium are among the most important plant pathogens in the world.Because of their great variability,species identification becomes very difficult.For many years,the taxonomy of this genus has been a subject of controversy. Since 1935,Wollenweber and Reinking published the first taxonomic system,about ten more systems have been proposed.Although all of these systems are based on the work of wollen- weber,each system has different specific concept and different groupings.This paper deals with five systems of them.A comparison of these five systems in tabular form is provided.
