Design of software based on seamless tiling display system

Abstract:
On the basis of Microsoft DirectShow technology and OpenSceneGraph that is an OpenSource and three dimensional rendering engine, the paper developed a software platform for an easy manageable, flexible, low cost large scalable and seamless tiling display system, which can be used for some applications such as 3D interactively browser and a large display movie playing. According to the thought of sort-first, we used a master / slave setup for our system as well as OSG (OpenSceneGraph) and the Microsoft DirectShow technology to load graphic scenes and videos. We presented two ways to synchronize the output of the PCs on the retained mode and the immediate mode: time synchronization and frame synchronization. Our experiments show that the performance of our newly developed system is comparable to old expensive display system, but with very small hardware cost.
