Effective de-blocking algorithm for block-DCT images
|
Abstract:
The block-Based Discrete Cosine Transform (BDCT) suffers from visible blocking artifacts between adjacent image blocks at low bit rates, which reduces the image visual quality. This paper proposed a blocking artifacts reduction algorithm based on feature analysis in wavelet domain in order to reduce blocking artifacts while preserving edge and texture information. The blocking artifacts in space domain display horizontal line-shape effect, vertical line-shape effect and grid-shape effect in high frequency sub-bands of wavelet domain. The proposed algorithm used adaptive operators for every sub-band to suppress these energy-concentrated coefficients on the block boundary to reduce blocking artifacts in space domain. The simulation result shows that it has good performance in reducing blocking effects at different bit rates for different kinds of images and the calculation speed is very fast.
