Depth detecting using stereo scope for AR systems
|
Abstract:
The goal of Augmented Reality(AR) is to produce environments by seamlessly integrating both real and virtual worlds. In a see-through display system,it is very important to present the mutual occlusion of real and virtual environments due to depth information of the real scene. In order to obtain the real scene depth map in real-time,a depth detecting system using stereo cameras was developed. When the cameras were installed to the base, calibration was down to get the camera's internal and external parameters. The image planes were then rectified to canonical configuration state. Finally, the search of the corresponding points constrained to one dimension was completed with SAD block matching.Experiment results show that the system is compact and steady. It provides well depth information for mutual occlusion of real and virtual worlds.
