High-precision synchronization acquisition for multiple sensors of hydrophone array based on phase locked loop

Abstract:
This paper proposed a high-precision synchronous method, which was suitable for the structural characteristics of the hydrophone array and used to handle the acquisition synchronization problems among multiple sensors in the hydrophone array. The method used two-stage synchronization techniques. First, in order to achieve synchronous acquisition among multiple sensors within the same node, it used the phase-locked loop technology. Then, it adopted a transmission delay compensation method which could compensate the synchronous error to attain high-precision synchronous acquisition between the different nodes. It set up an experimental system which consists of one master node and two slave nodes. The test results show that the synchronous acquisition error within the same node is no more than 5 ns and the synchronous acquisition error between the different nodes is no more than 10 ns. Then, the prototype system is further test, and the test results are consistent with the test results from the experimental system. Therefore, the proposed method can achieve high-precision synchronous acquisition among multiple sensors in hydrophone array.
