Research of SIP signaling compression algorithm based on LZSS in IMS

Abstract:
IMS was introduced into R5 core network by 3GPP, and 3GPP chose Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as the call/session control Signa1ing. However, under the wireless circumstances, large SIP message becomes a bottleneck when SIP is used in IMS. Based on the SigComp, this paper compared various compression algorithms and chose LZSS as the basic algorithm to compress SIP according to the characteristics of messages. To further improve the compression ratio, the authors brought forward a new algorithm based on LZSS and Huffman combination and make simulation analysis of the results of several compression algorithms.
