Performance of wireless sensor networks based on mobile agent computing paradigm
|
Abstract:
The computing paradigms used in wireless sensor networks were mainly divided into two categories: the Client/Server(C/S)-based paradigm and the mobile-agent (MA) based paradigm. Comparing to the C/S paradigm, many advantages of the MA paradigm made it more suitable for wireless sensor networks. Through theoretical analysis and mathematical modeling, the paper formalized mobile agent data processing and performance metrics of the paradigms. Several simulations were designed to compare the effect of different parameters on the performance of the paradigms. Simulation results show that the performance of the MA paradigm is affected by many factors such as mobile agent size, size of sensing data, mobile agent routing, so these factors need to be taken into account in order to achieve the tradeoff of delay and energy consumption in practice. Furthermore the MA paradigm has a good real time, and exhibits better performance than the C/S paradigm in certain conditions.
