Hormone based coverage algorithm in wireless sensor networks

Hormones play a significant role in modulates the balance of the internal environment. This paper proposed a hormone based coverage algorithm (HCA) in wireless sensor networks, which was distributed and energy-saving. In the proposed algorithm, a sensor node would transform its state to sleep or active when it received inhibit hormone (IH) or active hormone (AH). Comparative experiment shows that the proposed algorithm not only grant the effective coverage of wireless sensor network but also has less active sensor nodes compared with DELIC and UC.
