Study of sonically-enhanced menu interaction for mobile terminals
|
Abstract:
This paper described the study that the non-speech sounds were used to enhance the menu interaction on mobile terminals. It designed a visual-only menu and a sonically-enhanced menu on mobile terminals. The sonically enhanced menu was compared to the visual-only menu in a formal experiment in order to determine whether it could improve the usability or not. The results show that there is a significant reduction in task completion time, subjective workload by using the sonically enhanced menu. This study indicates that using effectively the sonically-enhanced menu interaction technique can improve the usability of menu interaction on mobile terminals.
